2026 Summer Field School

Join us to tour small and sustainable farm operations within Northeast Tennessee!

Below is our schedule for Summer Field School 2026. We’ve got an awesome lineup you won’t want to miss! Attendees can pick workshops a la carte for $15 per session, attend 4 of your choice for $45, or purchase all 8 sessions + our Kickoff Potluck Party for a discounted rate of $100. In addition, anyone registering for 2 or more workshops will get a free farm tour pass for our Northeast Tennessee Regional Farm Tour taking place on Saturday June 13, 2026. If you cannot afford to pay, check the box for a fee waiver. This can be requested for ANY reason. One ticket represents one person. All workshops will take place on Thursday evenings, except for our potluck and Two-Day Disaster Prepardness Workshop. All sessions will include a tour of the farm, an additional speaker, and time for questions and socializing. The session schedule with descriptions are below.

  • Sunday, May 17th, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Field School Kickoff Potluck Party at Grand Oak Farm (Jonesborough, TN)
  • Thursday, June 11th, 6p.m. to 8p.m.: Improving Soil Health on Your Farm, Harmony Spring Farm (Blountville, TN)
  • Thursday, June 25th, 6p.m. to 8p.m.: Appalachian Sustainable Development Hub Tour (ASD Campus, Duffield, VA)
  • Thursday, July 9th, 6p.m. to 8p.m.: How to Become an Incubator Farm (Farm Bureau, Jonesborough, TN)
  • Thursday, July 16th, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Rotational Grazing at Mike's Farm (Greeneville, TN)
  • Thursday, July 23rd, 6p.m. to 8p.m.: Niche Markets at Two Stones Farm and Mill (South Greene County,TN)
  • Thursday, August 13th, 5 p.m. to 8p.m.: Basic Farm Skills Workshop at Grand Oak Farm (Jonesborough, TN)
  • Thursday, August 20th, 6p.m. to 8p.m.: Season Extension and On Farm-Food Safety at Persephone's Garden (Johnson City, TN)
  • Thursday and Friday, September 17th and 18th: Two-Day Disaster Prepardness: Learn about all the ways to plan ahead and prepare for natural disasters on your farm. Location: Rural Resources, Greeneville, TN (10am-3pm)

Appalachian Resource Conservation & Development Council's workshops require advanced time, effort, and expense to plan and host. As such, it is policy of ARCD to issue refunds for registration fees only in the event that the workshop is cancelled or in extreme circumstances. In order to receive a refund for extreme circumstances, registrants must communicate with the workshop coordinator at least 48 hours prior to the event so that their spot may be offered to someone on the waitlist. Refunds will not be issued after a workshop begins.

-Please reach out if you need any special accomodations at any of our workshops.

-We ask that you leave your pets at home and please reach out if you plan to bring any children under the age of 12 to a workshop (not including the potluck).

-Bathroom facilities may not be available at all farm tours.
